Professor Tom Griffiths joins Antarctic expedition

Early this morning, 5 January 2012, Professor Tom Griffiths, Antarctic historian in the School of History, joined the Australian Antarctic Division’s Centennial Voyage to Mawson’s Huts at Commonwealth Bay.
You can follow Tom on his journey through a dedicated website created to mark the occasion. Tom will post updates on his experience, and reflections on this commemorative expedition in his own words and through the diaries of Australasian Antarctic Expedition members. The website also presents a brief background to the Australasian Antarctic Expedition of 1911-14. Visit the website at http://ceh.environmentalhistory-au-nz.org/research/aae/
In addition to Tom’s updates, which will be collected in the ‘Tom’s Blog’ section of the site, further supporting material will be added as the journey progresses, including images, video clips, and diary entries (both historical and present). At times access may allow for daily updates; at times there may be days with no word from Tom, so keep checking back with the site and join us in following Tom’s experience.
